David Lowther

David Lowther was born in South West London just four months before VE Day and grew up in South Wales. A former history teacher, he has been writing about the Second World War since the mid-1970s, an interest first kindled by the television documentary Before Hindsight.

His novels follow fictional characters through real events, and real people of the period appear in each of them:

His non-fiction book, Liberating Belsen: Remembering the Soldiers of the Durham Light Infantry, tells the story of the soldiers who arrived at Bergen-Belsen in April 1945.
