Explore the Stories Behind the History
Welcome to my website. I am a writer who specialises in the
Second World War. Each of my four novels focusses on a
different aspect of the conflict; Appeasement (The Blue Pencil), Crime in the Blitz (Two Families at War), pre-war espionage (The Summer of ’39) and young people growing up during the Second World War (Ordinary Heroes). All of the stories are based around real events and how
the fictional characters inter acted with these. A number of
real life people appear in each of the novels.
Additionally, I have had published one non-fictional title Liberating Belsen: Remembering the soldiers of the Durham Light Infantry. You
can read about all of these in the Books Section on the website.
Elsewhere on the website you can find my
blog with a monthly post about some of the major events of
WWII. The current one is Crime in the London Blitz with
links to the archive and other posts about the Second World
War.

I believe historical fiction should not only entertain, but also educate — drawing attention to the courage, conflict, and consequences of war. Whether you're a history enthusiast or an aspiring writer, there's something here for you.
