Author of WWII Historical Fiction

David Lowther is a war baby, born just four months before VE Day in New Malden, South West London. His family moved to Cardiff and then to Barry Island. His interest in WWII was fueled by a devastating TV documentary called Before Hindsight. He began writing about the second world war in the mid-seventies, blending his interest in the history with his talent for storytelling.

Sorry to fall behind. I’ve been on a three and a half Mediterranean cruise which was excellent. My Battle of the Bulge blog will be up within the next twenty four hours.

Meanwhile here’s another excellent review of my novel ORDINARY HEROES

I loved this WWII historical novel. The story encompasses everyone in wartime Britain – the soldiers, the families left behind, the volunteers, the refugees, and the medical community trying desperately to save the wounded. A love story is intertwined with Esther, a Jewish refugee, and George, a highly trained soldier struggling with his responsibilities as a soldier and his conscience. This story is unforgettable.

And above all, consider, remember and admire the fortitude and courage of all those people – real and imaginary – who enabled us to live in the (relatively) free world we have today.
